Lacrosse League Showcases Area Athletic Talent

Thirteen years ago, when Paul Noecker was a seventh grade student at Staley Junior High School, then physical education teacher and coach
Dick Meiss handed Paul a lacrosse stick and said, "Paul, you're playing lacrosse."
Paul never put that stick down. He played at RFA and was the team captain his senior year, an then went on to play and coach club lacrosse
and become an assistant coach at SUNY Tech. "I loved the game right from the start," he says. "It's an incredible sport."
Paul is currently the general manager and player coach of the Tri-City Travel Team, a club tam consisting of former high school and college players
which plays in the Empire Division of the 15 team, three division, United States Club Lacrosse Association.
The Tri-City reference is to Rome, Whitesboro and New Hartford, which is home to many of the coaches and players on the team.
The 2001 team roster includes Romans, Doug and Dave Closinski, Geof Marchione, Tommy Campbell and Terry Goetz.
The Closinski boys played on a Herkimer County Community College JUCO national championship team. Tommy Campbell and Terry Goetz were part of a
D3 championship team at Nazareth College.
Whitesboro, Hew Hartford and Clinton players include Peter Colburn, who also won a national title at HCCC, Brandon Davis, Bob Leary, the head coach
at SUNY Tech, Kevin Powers, Bob Dicks, Andy Farrell, Brett Marrett, Brian Davis, Paul Colbern, Shannon Sullivan, Geno DeCondo, Brent Dodge,
Kevin Kogut, Matt Chapple and Dave Babowicz.

- Sunday April 1 @ 1 p.m. vs. Team Reebok
- Sunday April 22 @ 1 p.m. vs. CNY All-Stars
- Sunday May 6 @ 1 p.m. vs. DeBeers
League playoffs start May 20 and then continue in Philadelphia, with the final four scheduled for Baltimore June 9th.
